Day Seven: Say Yes To Serving

“When Jesus heard what had happened, he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. Hearing this, the crowds followed him on foot from the towns. When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.” John 14:13-14
Serving is a selfless act that requires love and compassion for others. There is no more excellent example of serving than Jesus. Jesus continually showed compassion regardless of the circumstance. It’s often easy to serve when you feel good, or everything is going great, but serving doesn’t stop if you are experiencing a crisis or pain. We see this so true In Matthew 14. Jesus, after hearing of the beheading of John the Baptist, withdrew to a solitary place. But when people needed Him, He was available, and He served.
So often, people try to fix themselves before activating their faith and serving, and I can tell you from experience that serving heals. See, when you take the focus off your circumstance and put others first, God uses you to touch others and heals you in the process. Remember, what you magnify will have your heart.
Serving is an expression of God’s love in a practical way. Compassion, moved by a deep love for people, moves you far beyond a place of obligation. Being willing to be inconvenienced and uncomfortable, and living in humility, exposes any negative motives.
When we get our hearts right after God, we align with the things of God and order is restored in our life. I encourage you to be intentional and SERVE through it all.
DECLARATION/PRAYER: I declare that I am saying yes to serving God and others more remarkably this year. In this new year, Lord, help me to see people as you see them and renew my heart to serve. Amen.
