Day Thirty-Four: Time
"See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil." - Ephesians 5:15-16
This year we are stepping into the more we've been made for. One important key to living a life made for more is making the most of our time. Time is priceless and can be defined as an opportunity. We each get the same amount of time in a day, but what we do with it will ultimately define us.
It's so easy to pack our schedules and be distracted by the daily routines that time will pass us by if we're not careful. Have you had a moment where you went to church, entered worship, felt His presence, received the word, and left feeling like you could change the world? But then you allow the week to slip by, and before you know it, you haven't accomplished what you hoped. Why? When you don't prioritize your time, other things and people will.
There are key action steps to take so we can make the most of our time and live an abundant life:
Assess: How are we spending our time? Remember: activity doesn't mean accomplishment. We need to be aware of where our time is being spent. Have we developed bad habits? Where does the problem lie? What has worked, and what hasn't? Be honest with yourself.
Align: A spiritually disciplined life will give us the wisdom we need from God and keep us in alignment with His will for our life. Through prayer, fasting, spending time in His presence and reading His word, we gain wisdom and clear direction for our life. We get the blueprint. Seek the Lord's guidance and wisdom, and you will make wise choices. We then come into alignment with the plan of God.
Apply: Utilize the moments we are given. Every moment is an opportunity to live a life made for more, the life God has called us to live. We must apply these habits daily. We must be intentional and make sure we are spending our time in a way that is pleasing to God. We must set a plan in motion and be careful not to overload our schedule with busyness. We have to guard our "Yes." We weren't meant to do many things mediocre but a few things great. Don't dwell on past mistakes. Strive for rhythm, set boundaries, and eliminate distractions.
Assert: We may not be where we want to be, but we must be bold and declare things by faith into existence. We must take the initiative. Claim it, speak it, and pursue Him with reckless abandon.
The time is now! We are living a life made for more in 2023! We are going to make the most of every moment.
PRAYER: Lord, we declare that we will step into living a life made for more in this next season. Help us choose our time wisely and put You first in everything we do. Guide our time and make it impactful for the Kingdom of God. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
