Day Thirty: Meditating On His Word

"This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success." - Joshua 1:8

To meditate means to engage in reflection, concentrate, to think deeply or carefully about something. Have you ever taken note of meditating on God's Word as a part of your daily routine? It's essential to be intentional about meditating on God's Word, as He will show you during this season of Made For More.

Joshua was a Godly man and knew the value of hearing and meditating on the Word of God. This scripture in Joshua encourages us to speak, reflect on, and notice it. I believe he also knew, and we too know, that neglecting God's Word would be, as some say, a recipe for disaster. David said in Psalm 1:2, "But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law doth He meditate day and night." There will be times in these 40 days when His Word will become so real to you because you chose to make His Word vital to you daily. Look at the latter part of the scripture in Joshua 1:8, "For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success." Good success is having inner peace, an abundance of love, and living a life of integrity.

Here are a few ways you can meditate:
  1. Set time without distractions to spend much-needed alone time with God.
  2. Begin with prayer and ask God to help you (Proverbs 3:6, "In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.”)
  3. After choosing your scripture, read it, think about it, ask God to help you understand, and take notes if you desire.
  4. Apply what the Lord has placed on your heart and go deeper.
  5. Don't forget to thank Him.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, I come to You today asking You to forgive me for anything I've done knowingly and unknowingly. I bring down every thought that tries to exalt itself above You. Teach me to be still and focus on You while meditating in Your presence. Thank You so much for this time of fasting and prayer. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
