Day Twenty-Six: Chase After Jesus
"But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." - Hebrews 11:6 NKJV
Do you remember your last game of chase? Was it thirty years ago or yesterday? You probably ran to the point of losing your breath, but the excitement of the chase and the value of the prize was enough to keep you going.
When we examine our relationship with God, we don't always see it as a chase or a pursuit, and I dare say it doesn't bring excitement or cause our hearts to flutter the same way. And if that's so, what are we missing? How has our value system been skewed?
When we discover the precious gift that is our Lord, and we pursue Him and make Him the focus, it forces our perspective to shift. The things we thought would bring us peace and joy fail to satisfy our deep desire for a life filled with purpose and abundant life only found in Him. He is the center.
Ephesians and Colossians both declare that "He holds it all together." We can trust God with our past, present, and future. Then as we seek Him more, the wonderful thing about the game of chase is revealed. The rules get flipped, and no longer are we simply pursuing the Father, but now He is pursuing us.
And that is the more we were made for
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, strengthen my faith in You. Help me lay aside my old thinking and seek You in a deeper way. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
