Day Seventeen: Say Yes To Holiness

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” Matthew 5:8
This is the year we say “yes” to holiness! To say “yes” to God is to agree with His will. God’s will (desire) is that our lives reflect his moral character and divine nature. God is holy.
In simple terms, God is sinless, pure, good, and separate from that which is common. Throughout Scripture, it is evident that God desires and commands us to be holy as He is holy (see Leviticus 11:44-45; Matthew 5:48; 1 Peter 1:16). God wants us to say “yes” to holiness. The more we yield our lives to His Holy Spirit and submit ourselves in obedience to the Scripture (God’s word), the more holy we become.
Holiness is a lifestyle that is evidence that we have become more like Christ. It is a life we live, set apart from the world yet set apart unto God. Holy living is a statement to the world that we belong to God. Holiness is not a means to earn our salvation; it is the fruit of our salvation. Because we are saved, we should be holy. All that Jesus Christ accomplished on the cross has made it possible for His Holy Spirit to dwell in us and transform us. He purifies our hearts, and as a result, a pure heart leads to a pure life! Here are several of the many benefits of holiness: joy, peace, courage, love, the willingness to forgive, healing (inwardly & physically), a clean conscience (freedom from guilt, shame, and condemnation), power for ministry, and a deeper intimacy with Him.
DECLARATION/PRAYER: Today and every day, I say “YES” to holiness! Heavenly Father, thank you for Your word and Spirit that sanctifies us, making us more like you. Empower us by Your grace to live according to the standard set by Your word. Thank You for loving us with holy love and teaching us to love You, ourselves, and others with the same love!
